Environment

Hello people! How are you doing? I did promise you guys something in my last post, and that is to lay more emphasis on topics that have something to do with growth and development. Well, here I am to start fulfilling that promise. You know, today's topic reminds me so much of someone I used to know, she would always complain so much about how bad her friends treat people, how they gossip and how they talk down on people but unknown to her, she does the same thing she complains about. This story explains everything that will be discussed in this post and that is the environment.

 

When we hear people talk about the environment, what comes to mind? To one person, it may be where he lives, to the other, it might be where he always goes, but environment means a lot more than that. The word environment means any place or person or thing that influences your life. Just like I said in the former post, " if you have 5 rich men as friends, you automatically become the 6th one". The environment is a great influencing factor in everyone's life. Take, for example, a child who grew up in a family where the dad beats up his mum, do you think that he will do otherwise? No, this is because he has already seen beating a woman as his right and something normal to do. In the same way, do you expect a child who sees his parents happy, working together, and carrying the family along to become heartless without having to have mingled with another environment? A child raised by two mothers has a greater chance of being a lesbian and a child raised by a priest has a greater chance of becoming a priest. I want to share a life story. There's this lady with a child I always see around. What does this lady do? She dresses so tattered, looking dirty, and walks about from school premises to the market to the streets and so many more places to beg. Every single day, she backs her 5-year-old child and goes around to beg for money. 

The only thing that makes me so mad about their situation is her child and the way she's been trained to survive. I asked myself this question one day, what would happen to this lady if she decides to save up some of the money she begs and uses it to start up something? Do you know a child whose mother begged for a period and then starts up something of her own to fend for herself and her child will learn better than this other 5-year-old child? We must watch what we surround ourselves with, they can make or mar us

Your immediate family can be your environment, your friends can be your environment, your church can be your environment and you have to be very careful with people who are in your environment. You might not be aware that you become where you are and people you mingle with but with time, it shows and nobody might want to let you know.
