Midnight cries

Do you have big dreams but sometimes feel like giving up? Do you see yourself crying while others are fast asleep? Do you meet obstacles that make you want to give up? Do you have doubts about achieving your dreams? Oh yeah, you're not alone, it's a necessary process and it's normal. I want to share a brief story with you and this story is about David Goggins.

I was going through YouTube and I found an amazing video of Goggins termed "On the other side of suffering is greatness". David Goggins told us very little about himself in that video. From a very young age, he, his brother and mother suffered constant abuse from his dad. Do you know what abuse does to the mind especially when it starts from a young age? It locks you up in fear. Goggins refused to be caged in fear, he decided to find a way through that pain and suffering, he decided to find the light in the darkness. Goggins took matters into his own hands and decided to move over to the other side of suffering. He had to find a way through, he just had to make his life worth it, he decided to step out of the darkness. Goggins gave an illustration that explained everything he talked about. You know that point when you already know how things are going to turn out and with time you become very comfortable with the environment, that environment is called comfort and he illustrated it as a box. This box is your comfort, you already know the dos and don'ts, the consequences and reward of every action. Outside that box is hell to you because it's unfamiliar, full of struggles and uncertainties. Instead of going out there, you'd prefer to remain in your comfort because your mind has already been imprisoned by fear. He made us understand that you've got to step out but in order to do so, you have to conquer yourself.

Goggins could have easily accepted to be abused since he has gotten so used to it but instead he chose to take advantage of the situation and find a way out of it. He made a statement and it goes like this, "You have to go through suffering to get to that great peace", he continued by saying this, "To find permanent peace of enlightenment, you must go to the dark side of who you are". These are very powerful statements. The dark side of who you are includes your fears and insecurities, you have to conquer them to be able to grow, you have to find the light in your darkness, you have to learn to turn bad situations to favour you and to do this, you need to reprogram your mind.

There's something special about the mind, it knows you like no one, it knows your fears, limits, strengths and every other thing, so whenever there's something going on, it presents everything that should hold you down and those things start haunting you. These things that hold you down, that makes you doubt yourself becomes your darkness. You have to fight to conquer them and be able to step out of your comfort, to do this you need to confront that darkness and find the little light in it. You can not find that peace you're looking for until you conquer yourself - David Goggins. The mind will always win against you if you don't reprogram it for the better. It's your mind.

Today, Goggins has reduced from 300 pounds to 200, he has served in the Navy and Air force, is an American ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, public speaker, and author. All these because he decided to check out the other side of suffering. What are you waiting for? Do you want to get old before you realize that suffering is a necessary process to greatness? Are you ready to conquer those obstacles in your mind that's akways telling you that you aren't good enough, that you can't fo it? Let me give you a tip, whenever your mind says to you, "you can't do it", stand up straight, beat your chest and tell your mind, "Shut up! I'm your master and i decide what you do and what you don't".
